Chiang Rai is the most populous city in Northern Thailand, situated at the crossroads of Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar, roughly 900 kilometers north of Bangkok. Chiang Rai was founded in 1262 by King Mangrai, who is also the city’s name.
Chiang Rai is a peaceful, modest town surrounded by lush greenery and natural beauty. It is the entryway to the Daen Lao Mountain Range and the Myanmar-Laos border, also known as the Golden Triangle, which connects the three nations. Beautiful mountain villages, the Mekong River, and the world-famous White Temple (Wat Rong Khun) and Black Temple may all be found in this area (Baan Dam).
