Koh Tao is a small island off the coast of Thailand, facing the Gulf of Thailand. Koh Tao is located between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan to the north. In Koh Tao, the underwater visibility is exceptional, the island is home to vivid and gorgeous coral and numerous marine life, and it provides superb diving conditions, making it one of the world’s most famous diving and snorkeling destinations. Koh Tao’s seas are very clear. There are numerous reefs on Koh Tao, and the water temperature is similar to that of a bathtub. Underwater hills provide fantastic diving locations within a 20-kilometer radius of the island. As a result, Koh Tao has become a popular diving destination.

Koh Tao is an island in Thailand and is part of the Chumphon Archipelago on the western shore of the Gulf of Thailand. It covers an area of about 21 km2. Administratively it is a subdistrict of Ko Pha-ngan District of Surat Thani Province. As of 2006 its official population was 1,382.The main settlement is Ban Mae Hat.The economy of the island is almost exclusively centered on tourism, especially scuba diving.
